Any Muslim who renounces Islam has, in Allah's judgement, forfeited his right to live, he has commited, in the eyes of the worldwide Islamic community(The Ummah), high treason. Rushdie defected from the world community of Islam. This act of breaking with Islam is not a Rushdie monopoly. Of course, there are to be found individuals scattered throughout time who left the abode of Islam and took on other beleifs. but in the case of Rushdie he not only abandoned islam but he bgan to antagonize and stir up the very community which he previously belonged to. And he deliberately chose to infuriate the concepts held most dear to all Muslims(The prophet Muhammad-pbuh-) and even the non-Muslims when Rushdie "fictionally" describes Abraham, the Patriarch of Prophets, as a "bastard".
And doing so Rushdie has sealed his fate. THIS IS STRICTLY AN INTERNAL ISLAMIC AFFAIR. No power on erath can save Salman Rushdie, unl;ess he assumes another identity and joins the underwaorld of those who betrayed the Islamic World Community.
If this is strictly an internal Islamic affair, then why is Britain, Europe, the US, Israel and other governments so concerned about Mr.Rushdie? In the case of Britain, we may say that Rushdie is a British citizen by adoption(remember he was born in Bombay, India) But what have the other European, Israeli and American States to do with an expatraite Muslim? Are the Israeli, American and European governments so keen on protecting the fictious anilities of Rushdie's mind?? Come on now, there has to be more to this than guarding the imagination power of a boy from Bombay! The fact of the mater is that Rushdie of the world are rare. The demand for him and his likes by governments hostiuel to an Islamic awakening is high. It is not very often that a Muslim reneges on Islam and begins to throw stones at perceived houses of glass, and times his assault with delicate developments in the Muslim realm. And in this regard notice the different treatment of those who abandon Islam. With the high degree of esteem and respect which islam has for the human intellect and respect which Islam has for the human intellect and the high premium placed on thinking and reasoning by Muslims, there cannot be any Muslim convert who will be highlighted by Muslims for speaking publicly and outrageously against Christianity or Judaism. But those who claim to be Christians or Jews are limelighting a hate for Islam by this once Muslim. Not that they would do it to their own.
In The last tempation of Christ the act of Jesus having sex was sold to the public tagged to the catchword "fantasizing". In Satanic Verses the words mahound, bum, bastard, harlots describing the Prophet and his closest ones were sold to the public tagged with the catchword "fiction"> What is troubling here is that within a span of one year, two "acts of art" have been produced to insult about half the human race (Christians and Muslims) and devout and conscienctious believers are supposed to make believe taht nothing is happening; that it is all a practice of freedom of writing, speaking, and acting! At the same time there is a world-wide Jewish anti-defamation league: B'nai Birth that makes sure that what it defines as anti-semitism is not publicized much less celebrated and slutaed such as The Last Temptation of Christ and Satanic verses.
