Welcome to use the Index.

Introduction

In this index, I have tried to collect all the instances of names as well as certain ideas in The Satanic Verses. Page references are to the Viking/Penguin hardback (London, 1988) as well as to the international Consortium paperback (Dover, Delaware, 1992) editions.

The work is not yet complete and there are bound to be mistakes, omissions and repetitions. If you notice any, I would like to know, so that I can make the necessary changes:

  • mailto: Joel.Kuortti@uta.fi

I have benefitted greatly from Paul Brians's Notes to The Satanic Verses. I would like to thank him for his project. The index, I hope, can also serve as a practical tool for the use of the Notes.

    A Hint
You can move to the beginning of each letter of the alphabet by using the search/find option, just type in the intended letter with an asterisk (e.g. A* or U*).
