Tail

By Ruey Brodine (formerly, Università di Bologna, Italy)

Abstract & Keywords

Keywords:

Ruey Brodine, until her retirement professor of English at the University of Bologna, is also a painter. Over the duration of the Pixi project, her fellow Pixies were privileged to receive (and have jealously preserved) some of her small-scale water colours. The editors feel that this one, which they have taken the liberty of entitling "Tail", fittingly expresses a key aspect of Ruey's professional activity as a teacher and scholar: her stalwart belief in the potential of the creative process (in particular, writing) as a catalyst for language learning. They also believe that it aptly represents the intent of this collection of essays, which is to share with the wider community of scholars and practitioners in the fields of translation and language studies, part of the intellectual legacy of the colleagues to which the special issue is dedicated.
