| Dovrò dunque assembrarti al dì d'estate? Più amabile tu sei, più temperato: gemme di maggio dai venti sferzate, troppo breve è l'estate in sua durata: splende l'occhio del cielo troppo ardente, ed il volto suo d'oro è spesso ombrato. Ogni bellezza di bellezza è spenta, per natura o per caso intorbidata: ma l'estate tua eterna non si adombra, né perderà lo splendore tuo interno, né Morte vanterà di averti in ombra, crescerai tu nel tempo in versi eterni. Quanto respiro ed occhio umano ha vita, tanto vivrà il mio verso, a te pur vita. | Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
