Respeaking is a very recent form of audiovisual translation. Generally speaking it is the production of real time subtitles by means of a speech recognition software transcribing a simultaneous reformulation of the source text produced by the operator, or respeaker.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in Translation, Languages, and Cultures of the University of Bologna at Forlì is pleased to announce the first International Seminar on Respeaking to be held in Forlì 17 November 2006. The seminar will gather together professionals, scholars, broadcasters, IT experts and deaf people, who will have the opportunity to exchange views and best practices concerning this very recent type of audiovisual translation.
